Rabbi Crops

Because of this water management, these tribals
can grow the “Rabbi” crops and increase their income.

Water conservation and management

Wells, Farm ponds Vanrai dam using stones and clay Bamboo Crete dams. Instead of ferrocrete plates, we use bamboo in place of steel rods and form bamboo crete plates. These
plates are used to build the bunds at end of the rainy season.

Tuber Crops

Farmers are advised to grow tuber crops like ghorkand
(greater yam), suran (elephant’s foot yam), and sweet
potato the less fertile hilly land during the Kharif season.
Tuber crops on ten gunthas of land can earn minimum
of Rs. 30,000 for the farmer. Tuber crop cultivation is, therefore, beneficial, and almost all the families in the
Vanvasi areas undertake cultivation these crops. Since
these crops are cultivated during the Kharif season,
there no need to water them. On average, every tribal community farmer grows tuber crops on four to five
gunthas of land and earns an income of about Rs. 18,000.

Process industry and marketing

Broom making – previously this grass used to grow as
weed in the jungles. We taught them to grow this grass in their farms and prepare brooms.​ 500 families earn more  than Rs.1.25 crores p.a. in Ganjam dist. of Odisha.​ Mango powder (Amchur) in Nandurbar ​ 5,000 families from 178 villages, produce and sell Rs.20 crores worth of Mango Powder.​

Vine Vegetables

Water management becomes an important issue after the Kharif season to earn income for the farmer. The Kharif season alone cannot sustain the farmer. The tribal community farmers solely dependent on the Kharif season are forced to migrate to the cities for employment at the end of the season. Vine vegetables grow well even on barren land and less water. If the farmers choose to grow vine vegetables on five gunthas of land during both the Kharif and Rabi seasons, they can earn up to Rs. 25,000. Vine vegetables can be grown twice a year; they start producing vegetables within 60 to 70 days of sowing.

Millets

Millets are a diverse group of small-seeded grasses cultivated as cereal crops for food and fodder. They are known for their nutritional value, hardiness, and ability to thrive in challenging growing conditions.  Millets are gaining popularity due to their gluten-free nature, high fiber content, and potential health benefits.  Suyash Janjati Farmers are encourage and to grow different millets. Being staple food in many regions we are able to harvest quantities enough for marketing and sales. In sync with Honarable Pm Modijis vision Suyash has been capably able to place milletslike Kodo,Kutki,Sama, Nachani, bajari, Sava, Ragi on the Agricultural footprint of all 8 states.
